Becker Digital at SPADE Defense Conference
SPADE Defense Conference 2023 Recap:
Becker Digital’s leadership team recently joined AFCEA International and IBM for SPADE 2023 - an invite-only summit for defense, government, and intelligence leadership. This year's event focus was "Powering Decision Advantage: Deploying the Data Fabric for Multi Domain C2."
The agenda included multiple feature presentations, panel discussions, and fireside chats on technology's evolving capabilities related to current and future landscapes. Additionally, digital transformation and modernization initiatives across multiple domains were discussed by public and private sector participants.
A few highlights from SPADE included:
Opening keynote by Hon. Frank Kendall, Secretary of the Air Force, that discussed the race for "technical superiority", and the important role industry partners play in accomplishing this objective. The "arms race" of previous wars has been replaced with the demand for highly-skilled cyber talent and technical solutions. Sec. Kendall provided event attendees with an important reminder: "If we stay where we are, we're going to fall behind."
NATO Panel on decision advantage that included discussion regarding the effects of disinformation in our networks and the critical need for "cognitive dominance" to counter current threats. Maj. Gen. Gordon B. “Skip” Davis, U.S Army (Ret.), Maj. Gen. Erich Staudacher, GEAF (Ret.), General Manager, AFCEA Europe, and Mr. Leendert van Bochoven, Global Director for National Security, IBM, provided updates from Brussels.
"Powering Decision Advantage Across Domains" Panel moderated by RDML (Ret.) Dwight Shepherd, Director, IBM Federal Client Relations. The discussion emphasized the vital importance of training service members for the complex realities of our digital world, and drove home the impacts of such training on military recruitment and retention. Panelists included: CAPT Brett O’Donovan, Division Director, INDOPACOM J65, Brig Gen Chad D Raduege, US Air Force, and BG Denise Brown, Director, NC4SI, Army Deputy Chief of Staff, G-6.
